Ex-Coronation street actor admits to sexual assault accusations

Bruno Langley, known for playing Todd Grimshaw in Coronation Street, pleaded guilty to the sexual assault of two women in Manchester back in October. The women accused Langley of, whilst drunk, grabbing one women's crotch, and touching the other one's breasts, at the Band on the Wall music venue.

Langley’s defences was that he was drunk and pleaded guilty to the accusations which was suggested he done this to avoid the victims giving evidence in court. Langley’s contract with ITV was terminated following the accusations, although storylines on Coronation Street will be televised up until December 24th.

Langley was given a 12 month community order, which includes 40 days of rehabilitation activity, was ordered to wear an electronic tag, stick to a curfew, and pay £250 I compensation to the victims- alongside signing the sex offenders register for five years.

Recently, more and more celebrities and well-known people are being accused and convicted of sexual assault or harassment. This story further exploits the problems in society where crimes of a sexual manor are a major issue to which more victims are coming out and sharing their stories- hopefully a movement in the right direction to eliminate sexual assault, rape, and harassment.
