Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs

Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs

Maslow believed that people needed to reach certain needs in order to fulfil other needs. Maslow categorised these needs into 5 categories: Physiological, safety, love/belonging, esteem, and finally self-actualisation. He then displayed these needs onto a pyramid in order to show which needs need to be fulfilled in order to fulfil the next needs, for example, safety needs need to be completed before one can move on to love/belonging needs. Over a person's life, they will fluctuate between the different levels of the pyramid as different events and opportunities will change a persons life.
